Progress Report on Construction of BT Road at Arbab Karam Khan Street, Shahzaman Road (PSDP #1530)
The construction of the BT Road at Arbab Karam Khan Street, Shahzaman Road under PSDP #1530 is progressing at full pace. On [insert date], a community member raised a concern regarding the thickness and quality of the asphalt premix, claiming it to be only 0.5 inches.
In response, Directions of the worthy secretary CWPP&H LAL JAN JAFAR, Executive Engineer of E&M Workshop Division Quetta, accompanied by the SDO and field staff, conducted a site visit on [insert date]. The team engaged with the local community and the complainant, who is himself an engineer currently serving as SDO, Buleda Irrigation Department, Kech.
To verify the complaint, three test pits were excavated at different intervals in the presence of the community and the complainant. The measured thicknesses were as follows:
Pit #1: 2.5 inches
Pit #2: 2.3 inches
Pit #3: 3.0 inches
These measurements, documented in video footage, confirm that the asphalt thickness meets the required specification of 2 inches (compacted).
During the inspection, the complainant further requested that asphalt be laid over an earthen, loose ramp in front of a main gate, as seen in the attached photo. However, this request was technically unsound and was rightly rejected by the Executive Engineer, as laying asphalt over an uncompacted earthen ramp would result in poor bonding and long-term failure.
The ongoing work complies with the approved scope, specifications, and standards. The department remains committed to ensuring quality and will not compromise on either quality or quantity. Following the inspection and detailed discussion, the local community was fully satisfied with the explanation and the work performed.
